5 Quick Errands I Never Knew I’d Miss as a New Mom

Are you pregnant, or a new mama? Read below for a quick list of five simple tasks I never knew how much I was taking for granted — until I became a mom.

Being a mom is the best thing I’ve ever done, seriously! I never knew my heart could feel this much love for another human. Being a new mom has it’s own set of challenges, especially with a husband in the military. With that said, here is what I miss:

1. Running to the grocery store.

Before I had my son, I would do one larger grocery haul for all the regular necessities and filler items (toilet paper, salad mix, eggs, cheese, all the regulars), and then I would usually run to the store on the way home from work everyday to pick up what we were having for dinner that night. I can no longer do this! Not only do I not have a job I commute to everyday, so stopping isn’t just something I do on the daily, bringing a baby to the store when you only need one or two items is a major hassle!

2. Paying cash at the gas station.

Never in my wildest dreams would I think paying cash for gas would be something i’d miss doing. Is it just because I don’t have the option to go inside now with a baby waiting in the car? Maybe, but i’m mad about it!

3. Perusing the aisles of Target.

Okay, okay. So, Target isn’t reeally an errand, but you get my drift. Yes, nothing is stopping me from bringing my babe with me and baby wearing while sipping on some ‘Bucks and looking at those sunglasses I don’t need, but it just isn’t the same! Every minute is planned out. Has the baby eaten? Will he need to eat? Take a nap? Get his diaper changed? What time is it? I like a solid hour and half in my favorite bull’s eye branded store, and it just doesn’t happen as easily as it used to!

4. Getting my hair and nails done.

I don’t know about you mamas out there, but I love getting a pedicure. The hot water, leg massage, someone else painting my toes while I sip on complimentary wine….glorious. I have had my nails done once since having my son 7 months ago, only because my husband was home to watch him! I had serious mom guilt after and haven’t gone back.

5. Going to the bathroom — by myself.

Not to mention taking a shower longer than 10 minutes! I don’t know the last time I’ve peed without holding a baby, or running upstairs super quick during nap time. That baby can move!

While I could go on and on (and on) about all the freedoms I miss, these are my top five! Comment below mamas, and tell me what you miss most about life before tiny humans.
